The existing Yamal constellation and future projects always consider this need because current communication technology supporting the ships on the various routes they intend to sail is lacking.

The second stable and growing segment of the satellite industry is maritime services. While in-flight connectivity is considered more of a luxury and convenience, a stable network is still essential on a vessel. However, there is another opportunity from Cruise travelers which require more and more Mbps to keep in touch with the entire world.

The existing Yamal constellation and future projects always consider this need because current communication technology supporting the ships on the various routes they intend to sail is lacking.

The most popular satellite in this segment is the Yamal-300K due to the wide Northern beam uniting two continents by covering the Pacific Ocean. The advantage of using plenty of teleports on both sides of the ocean is beneficial for maritime operators and gives them flexibility in networking.

Other Yamal satellites also solve local aims, for example, Yamal-401 and Yamal-402 can provide satellite service along the Northern Sea route from Norway to Alaska. At the same time, the Yamal-601, with excellent performance and coverage across most of the Eastern Hemisphere, is typically used on cruise ships that require broadband speeds up to 300/300 Mbps.
