Communications Links

Gazprom Space Systems organizes fixed communication channels on the basis of C- and Ku-band resource with bandwidth up to 300 Mbit/s. The service is provided using the company's telecommunication center (Shchelkovo) connected via fiber-optic lines to major Moscow nodes (M9, M5, M10), as well as using earth stations deployed in the regions.

Secured communication channels (SCPC)

Satellite-controlled communication channels (Single Channel per Carrier, SCPC) are set up to enable continuous (bandwidth-guaranteed) data exchange between satellite earth stations and enable the following customer telecom services:

  • data transmission
  • access to the Internet
  • video conferencing
  • video surveillance.

These links can be used by fixed-line operators and enterprise operators as an alternative to terrestrial channels or for redundancy to improve network availability.

Dedicated lines are also increasingly being used by mobile operators to link base stations in cellular networks.

Internet service providers can get backbone Internet traffic through these channels.

IP-MPLS networks are enabled. This technology is approved for use in PJSC Gazprom's technological communication network.

Channels of communication based on multiservice platforms (channels on demand)

Gazprom Space Systems has multi-service platforms (Hub Gilat, Sat3Play, Dialog, Advantech, Istar) of different technologies on the basis of which it organizes satellite communication channels "on demand". To provide the service the resource of C- and Ku-band is used.

Satellite channels "on demand" are usually organized for corporate customers to provide information exchange between the company's central office and its remote sites.

These on-demand satellite links are designed to enable data services (including telemetry and telemetry data), telephony, Internet access, video conferencing, video streaming (security surveillance systems), and voice services.

Multiservice platforms could also be the basis for implementing remote education and telemedicine projects.

The networks topology is based on the star type and includes two satellite transmission paths: a direct satellite link from the central earth station to the remote subscriber terminals and a return satellite link from the subscriber terminal to the central earth station.

The company can conduct a full range of works on supply, installation and setup of subscriber terminals, as well as provide registration of permits under a simplified registration procedure.

Use of mobile satellite communication systems

The mobile satellite communications complex is designed to provide operational audio-visual communication from the places of emergencies or current events, including the possibility of organizing:

  • video reports;
  • point-to-point video conferencing;
  • transfer of video data.

The service is implemented on the basis of multi-service platforms.
