On April 10-11, 2019, the 11th International Conference Satellite Russia & CIS 2019 took place in Moscow.

On April 10-11, 2019, the 11th International Conference Satellite Russia & CIS 2019 took place in Moscow. This unique and independent event was dedicated to discuss a lot of related to space business topics: satellite communications and broadcasting, Earth observation systems, technological innovations in ground equipment, rocket/space systems production and launch services, financing and insurance of space activities.

The conference was endorsed by the Federal Agency of Communications (Rossvyaz), the State Corporation for Space Activities Roscosmos, the Russian Association of Aviation and Space Insurers, etc.

The event was attended by representatives of regulatory authorities, government agencies, executive leaders of Russian and foreign satellite communication operators, TV and radio broadcasting operators, satellite and space equipment manufacturers, launch service providers, financial and insurance companies, consultants, industry and business media, representatives of B2B satellite communications customers.

The General Partner of Satellite Russia & CIS 2019 was Gazprom Space Systems (GSS). Company employees were fully engaged in all conference related activities.

Petr Korvyakov, First Deputy Director General, said that the company has a long-term development program including the development of the Yamal satellite communications and broadcasting system, the creation of the Earth observation system Smotr and the construction of spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Test Facility. As always, there was conducted a very interesting roundtable discussion: “Investing into space: ways to protect commercial interests of satellite operators and encourage investments”, dedicated to search for new sources of investment for Russian satellite communications market players, as well as insurance for the space industry. The session was moderated by Natalia Ramazanova, Deputy Director General for Economy and Finance, GSS.

Julia Babkina, the Head of Broadband department, dedicated her report to new VSAT projects implemented by GSS in 2019.

Dmitry Sergeyev, Head of Geo-information services department, took part in the session “Practical Application of Earth observation and geo-information systems in Russia”.

The next, XII conference of Satellite Russia & CIS will be held in April 2020.
