Gazprom Space Systems has provided satellite communication on the Silk Way Rally 2018

Silk Way Rally was held in the period from 21st to 27th of July in Russia. Within this event, Gazprom Space Systems provided satellite channels for high-speed Internet access and technological communication at bivouacs and special sections of the route.

GSS technical team of seven specialists worked at the rally.

The task was completed with the use of Yamal-402 satellite capacity, mobile satellite communication stations, equipment for TV broadcasting form the rally route, equipment for WiFi access services at bivouacs, VHF radio and satellite communication in motion.

This year the Silk Way Rally was held in Astrakhan, Volgograd, Lipetsk and Tula regions, as well as in the Republic of Kalmykia. The total distance of the race contained more than three and a half thousand kilometers. The rally was attended by racers from 24 countries: 26 crews in the standings of SUVs and 17 crews in the cargo standings. The race was covered by more than 100 permanently accredited Russian and foreign journalists.

The finish of the rally took place at Red Square in Moscow.
