On 3-5 March 2009 the annual show CABSAT 2009 took place in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC). Gazprom Space Systems has exhibited in this event with its exposition already for the three years running.

As the leading International Electronic Media and Satellite Communications event for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia this exhibition reflects general trends of the telecommunication industry development in the region. For this time the main question it was called to answer was: "Prospects of the further industry development in the Middle East at the economic slowdown conditions."

This is a quite actual issue for Gazprom Space Systems. The Middle East market is of current importance for the company as it contributes more than 15% of the total revenue from the operator activity.

The meetings with the clients, colleagues from other companies, analysts and media representatives, actually there were more than fifty of such meetings, confirmed the presence of stable growing demand for satellite capacity despite some general economic slowdown in the region.

At the exhibition the company traditionally presented the possibilities of its Yamal Satellites fleet, in particular already the well-known and demanded Yamal-202 (49E) satellite covering the Middle East and neighboring regions, and the general concept of the future fleet development till 2015 including new high-power satellites.

The main result of Gazprom Space Systems participation in the exhibition, in addition to signing several Supplementary Agreements to the current contracts, is finding the confidence in the possibility not only to keep but also further successfully develop the company international business in the Middle East region based on both the operating and future Yamal satellites.
