The Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Russia visited Gazprom Space Systems' Headquarters

Mr. Udayanga Weeratunga, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Russia visited Gazprom Space Systems' HQ in Korolev.

Mr. Udayanga Weeratunga, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Russia visited Gazprom Space Systems' HQ in Korolev.

During the business meeting Mr. Udayanga Weeratunga and Dmitry Sevastiyanov, Gazprom Space Systems' Director General, were discussing the cooperation potentials of Gazprom Space Systems and companies of Sri Lanka.

Dmitry Sevastiyanov told Mr. Ambassador about the capabilities and development of Yamal satellite communication and broadcast system and other projects of the company.

Special attention was paid to the issues of cooperation in the field of satellite communications and distance learning applications.

Parties considered the meeting to be interesting and fruitful and agreed to activate contacts and continue studying the feasibility of joint projects.

The representatives of Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz also took part in the meeting.

For more than 3 years TV and radio channels of Sri Lanka have been broadcasted via Gazprom Space Systems' Yamal-202 satellite (orbital position 49E). They are uplinked by the company Electroteks from Colombo city. Besides, thanks to the wide coverage zone of this satellite it is possible to receive in Sri Lanka several Russian channels, uplinked from the Satellite digital TV Center of Gazprom Space Systems.
