The Deal on attracting the credits for Yamal-400 project financing was recognized as the Deal of the Year 2010

According to Trade & Forfaiting Review the deal on attracting by Gazprom Space Systems the long-term credits of €467 million sum-total to finance Yamal-400 project was named as the Deal of the Year 2010.

According to Trade & Forfaiting Review the deal on attracting by Gazprom Space Systems the long-term credits of €467 million sum-total to finance Yamal-400 project was named as the Deal of the Year 2010.

Yamal-400 project provides for the manufacture and launch to the geostationary orbit of the two Yamal-401 and Yamal-402 satellites, carrying 99 transponders in C- and Ku-band in total (or 154 equivalent transponders of 36 MHz each), building of the mission control center, backup control centre, NOC, and also development of GSS’ telecommunication ground infrastructure.

The project is implemented in the framework of the Russian and French cooperation:

  • Yamal-402 satellite, dedicated to operate at 55E orbital position, will be produced by Thales Alenia Space based on Spacebus-4000 (the satellite launch date is 2012);
  • Yamal-401 satellite, dedicated to operate at 90E orbital position, will be assembled and tested at the plant of Information Satellite Systems Reshetnev Company based on Express-2000 bus in cooperation with Gazprom Space Systems and using the payload equipment provided by Thales Alenia Space (the satellite launch date is 2013);
  • The satellites will be launched by Proton vehicles.

To finance the French and Russian cooperation under the project the following credits were attracted under Gazprom guarantee:

  • BNP Paribas, Citibank and Credit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank credit with the participation of the French export agency COFACE amounts to €223 million;
  • BNP Paribas, Citibank and Credit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank commercial credit amounts to of $298 million;
  • Gazprombank credits amount to $94 million and 1755 million rubles.

Trade & Forfaiting Review judges recognized the deal of attracting syndicated credits of BNP Paribas, Citibank and Credit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank as one of the most significant last year events in the financial world. One of them commented his choice as «Nice one! Difficult in terms of the object, ‘satellites’, I’d say this is a winner».
