From January 1, 2012 broadcast of a new state TV channel Turkmenistan-sport via Yamal-201 satellite has began.
Twenty-four-hour sport TV channel is dedicated to promote principles of healthy life style, support to populate mass sport movement.
In last September one more Turkmen TV channel Ashgabat was launched on Yamal-201 satellite. The channel refers to processes of the Ashkhabad renovation, introduces the events of its social, cultural and economical live, activities of scientific and educational institutions.
Thus now there are seven TV channels of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography of Turkmenistan are broadcasted via Yamal-201: Altyn Asyr, Miras, youth channel Yaslyk, international channel Turkmenistan, music channel Turkmen owazy, Ashgabat and Turkmenistan-sport.
Yamal-201 satellite located at the 90°E orbital position is ideal to serve the territory of Russia and CIS countries.
Cooperation between Gazprom Space Systems and the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan began in 2000 when four Turkmen TV channels were uplinked to Yamal-100 satellite.
