In 2011 Gazprom Space Systems upgraded the satellite communication network of gas transportation company Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk.

Gazprom Space Systems deploied Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk (Tyumentransgaz) satellite communication network in 2002–2004. Now the network consists of 17 satellite communication earth stations. Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk network uses Yamal-201 satellite capacity (С-band) and serves technological process of gas transportation, uniting the company HQ with line-the production sites (compressor stations) of main gas pipelines.

During the upgrade activity the network links were moved from Moscow teleport, located at the Gazprom’s HQ, to the central earth station, located at Gazprom Space Systems’ new teleport in Schelkovo. This station was updated with Hughes Network Systems HUB in order to provide the network operation in DVB-RCS in fully connected mode. Accordingly the outdated equipment of the regional earth stations was replaced by the more modern ones operating via the new technology.

The performed network upgrade allowed to implement for the network the dynamically changing throughput of the communication links with the automatic adaptation to the weather conditions, that significantly improved the links reliability and also the efficiency of their use by the customer. Moreover, the possibility has appeared to further expand services without the basic equipment replacement.
