Yamal-402 starts commercial operation
The satellite operates at the 55°E orbital position.
After IOT Yamal-402 satellite was put into commercial operation.
Satellite is operated from the Mission Control Center of Gazprom Space Systems, located in Schelkovo, Moscow region.
The satellite operates at the 55°E orbital position.
For reference:
Yamal-402 satellite was produced by a well-known European company Thales Alenia Space based on the Spacebus-4000 platform.
Gazprom Space Systems was the customer of Yamal-402 and also built the ground control complex.
The satellite was launched on December 8, 2012.
Yamal-402 was placed at the 55°E orbital position.
Yamal-402 has 46 physical Ku-band transponders (66 equivalent transponders 36 MHz each).
On-board antennas of this satellite form 4 fixed beams: Russian, Northern, European, Southern and also Steerable one.
Planned frequencies (18 transponders 36 MHz each) are concentrated in Russian beam, which contours repeat the Russian boundaries. Additionally this beam has 4 transponders of 54 MHz each in standard frequencies.
Wide Northern beam, which covers the visible territory of Russia, CIS countries, almost the whole Europe and part of the Middle East, has from 9 to 12 transponders of 72 MHz each.
4 transponders of 54 MHz each will be used in European beam, covering the territory of the Western and Central Europe, Middle East and North Africa.
Wide Southern beam, covering the territory of Africa to the south of Sahara, has 8 transponders of 54 MHz each.
The beam, formed by the antenna, which can be steered upon the command from the Earth during the satellite operation on the orbit, can use up to 3 transponders 72 MHz each.
Moreover, there is the possibility of cross-beam connection between Southern and European beams and between Northern and Steerable beams.
