Yamal-401 satellite will help to arrange communications in Yakutia
The using of Yamal satellite system will help to provide citizens of the remote areas in Yakutia with the modern and high-quality communications, as per the website of Egor Borisov, President of the Republic of Yakutia.
As the website reports: during the meeting with Valery Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom, Egor Borisov proposed to consider the possibility to allocate to the Republic some part of Yamal-401 satellite capacity owned by the operator Gazprom Space Systems.
Now about 70% of the Republic’s settlements have an access to the communications via Express-АМ3 and Express-АМ33 satellites, but these satellites do not have technical capabilities enough to provide citizens of the remote areas with modern communication services.
As the same source notes: following the results of the meeting it was decided to prepare a supplementary agreement to the current Cooperation Agreement between Yakutia and Gazprom about using Yamal Satellite Communication and Broadcasting System to provide the region with the high quality satellite communications.
