Yamal-401 connected Tokyo and Istanbul

Yamal-401 satellite with its unique wide and powerful footprints made it possible to connect Tokyo and Istanbul (about 9 000 kilometers direct line). The satellite channel was implemented by Turkish News Agency NewTR for covering the visit of the King of Saudi Arabia to Japan.

Yamal satellites are becoming more popular for TV occasional use and adhoc news contribution in the studio from the events locations. Ten international providers deliver such services via Gazprom Space Systems satellites.
