Yamal-202 was the core of the satellite communication network, deployed on the request of FIFA and the General broadcaster providing the transmission of video stream (broadcast) from all stadiums where football matches were held, to the international broadcasting center in Moscow and to the backup center in Switzerland.

Yamal-202 operates in C-band at 49˚E orbital position and has a unique service area covering Europe, the most part of Russian territory, North Africa, the middle East, South and South-East Asia. All cities in Russia and Europe to be covered in this project are reached by this satellite.

Using Yamal-402 satellite capacity, the companies Flycom, Uplink Services and VGTRK provided live broadcasts of all football matches to all the official fan zones, organized by FIFA in the cities hosting the World Cup.

Yamal-402 (operating in Ku-band at 55˚E orbital position) is often used for video broadcast services in Russia and abroad. The coverage area of this satellite and its energetic parameters were optimal for this project and fully satisfied customers.
