The 27th International Communications and Information Technology Exhibition & Conference CommunicAsia took place in Singapore since May 31 to June 3. As always, the exhibition had widely represented satellite technologies and services. In particular, two dozen of global and regional satellite operators offered the capacity of own constellations.

Satellite companies believe in the prospects of Asia-Pacific market and continue to invest in the orbital assets, focused on servicing of these areas. As a result, the market supply of traditional C- and Ku-band satellite capacity in this region passed the mark of 2 500 equivalent transponders, that is approximately 30% of the global orbital capacity. Asia-Pacific market is becoming increasingly competitive, that causes pressure on prices. However, supply-and-demand balance remains quite favorable and allows the satellite telecommunications to continue sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.

The thirteenth time in its history Gazprom Space Systems participated in CommunicAsia – the largest Asia's event dedicated to telecommunications and media. The company’s exposition and the efforts of organizational units were aimed to promote Yamal satellites capacity for rendering of services in the Asia-Pacific region.

This market is very important for Gazprom Space Systems. Approximately 40% of the income gained form the international market comes from Southeast Asia customers.

The presence of Gazprom Space Systems in the Asia-Pacific region has increased following the relocation of Yamal-300K satellite eastward to 183E orbital position (or 177W). The wide fixed Ku-band beam of this satellite, covering the Far East, the Pacific Ocean and the west coast of North America is optimal for communications on air and sea vessels. Yamal-300K steerable beam generates interest as well: the potential customers define its best location for their business. Currently the beam is pointed to Hawaii and French Polynesia, and it is being under "try on" procedures performed by a number of major satellite service providers for the potential end customers.

Yamal-202 in the position of 49E also continues its operation on the Asian market, being well known for its semiglobal footprint, allowing to connect Europe and Southeast Asia.

In the course of exhibition there were carried out numerous meetings with existing and potential customers, representatives of the leading global and regional satellite operators, as well as existing contracts were extended. It is expected that the arrangements reached at the exhibition will be embodied in the new contracts, and Gazprom Space Systems will significantly increase satellite capacity sales on the Asian market.
